Dad lifts a paving stone. Underneath there are hundreds of ants. ‘There is always more than you think,’ dad says. I can feel that, when I stroke grandad’s empty chair. Or when I put my ear against dad’s chest. With your eyes closed, you can sometimes see so much more.
